Postcard series (Back of the Yards)

In an early effort to work with a group of kids in the neighborhood we walked and took pictures of the neighborhood as we walked. They described the community with little regard or history for the massive structures and remnants of the Chicago Union Stockyards that surrounded us. The project was initiated by a question about why the city didn’t promote the Back of the Yards as a destination for tourists. The text was a blend of adolescent vernacular and whisps of slogans often reimagined in translation.
