Livestock Bank / Back of the Yards

The beginning of the Stockyard Institute happened here in 1995, meeting some youth with cameras in front of the Livestock bank at 42nd and Halsted. It was the hottest summer on record in Chicago and we had an idea of investigating both a history of the Back of the Yards and what it means to produce work based solely on the young people’s questions was in play. The bank worked a as a subject and backdrop for a couple works.
